PLEASE NOTE: As we present what we believe are the facts in this case no persons have been charged with any crime and are presumed innocent.

Kathy's story is truly very complicated but the main point is that she was a loving and trusting young woman who fell for a soldier who only saw her for financial gain. In our opinion the military made this form of victimization to easy.

"We now know that it is a fact that Kathy was the victim of marriage fraud by US Army Specialist Isaac Goodwin. He married Kathy for the sole purpose of obtaining a housing allowance to replace money he had lost the previous month over an Article 15 for misappropriation of government funds. The financial benefit he targeted was called “Basic Allowance for Housing” (BAH) that soldiers become eligible for by marriage or other dependents and is often times obtained by fraud.

Therefore this benefit is intended for housing the spouse and should have come to his spouse. Instead he pocketed the money until forced by the military to pay the money to her. Ironically the victim received only three partial payments the largest of which was received just 4 days before her death. Text messages show that even after being ordered to support his spouse, this soldier mentally and verbally fought her tooth and nail to not do so. In addition, by the act of the marriage itself the soldier became the benefactor of a $100,000 life insurance policy with no suicide clause that he eventually collected on it. "

Documents show that the soldier started collecting benefits immediately while the young college student continued financially struggling in her on campus apartment. He obtained no ID card for her, never signed her up for any military benefits and even claimed an address that he could not produce a lease with her name on it. Documents show that he pretty much ignored her following the court house ceremony leaving his spouse trying to figure out what happened.

Records show that the deceased personally discovered evidence of the BAH fraud and adultery in March of 2012. She collected and saved this evidence along with screen shots from Sgt. Goodwin's Facebook page calling the file "What I found today" and seemingly buried multiple copies of the information, in multiple files on her computer.

Electronic communications further show that two days prior to her death the deceased allegedly emailed Sgt. Isaac Goodwin, Sgt. Latoya King, who was using the alias Kristina, and DOD employee Damaris Brown copies of the proof of the adultery and BAH fraud she felt they had perpetrated on her on May 4th, and she threatened to report it to the Inspector General's office the week of May 7, 2012. To date, no electronic evidence has been found of any response or rebuttal from Sgt. Isaac Goodwin, Sgt. Latoya King or Damaris Brown to the deceased allegations. To date and to our knowledge none of our allegations have ever been investigated.

Extracted records from Kathy's electronics also show that prior to her death Facebook transmissions captured by the deceased, revealed that Goodwin had the marriage conversation with a Virginia woman during this same time.

During this time he also maintained an ongoing relationship with another soldier.

Freedom of information documents further disclose that Goodwin, had just been charged with an Article 15 for misappropriation of government funds and in the same exact month the financial fines of $545 per month hit his pay he declared his love for the innocent and trusting college student, ordering her to marry him. As a result of their involvement, all three were mirandized, the military confiscated their government issued communications devices (not their personal). Sgt.Latoya King was ordered to have no contact with Sgt. Goodwin. Records now show that Sgt. Latoya King defied that direct order from her Commander over 60 times in the 30 days following Katherine's death. Click to see evidence that Sgt King defied a direct order She also was scheduled to pick him up from the airport upon his arrival back into the county. Military commanders ordered her to not do so.

In addition, and sadly, on the day of Kathy's death Sgt. King, (alias Kristina) was contacted by Kathy's sister . Even after such a devastating set of events, King continued to dupe the family by using the alias. It was not until the military investigation was under way, that the Morris family was notified by the Army, the true identity of the soldier and other DOD employee, (Damaris Brown). King obtained a lawyer and was never questioned by Anne Arundel County Police.

Goodwin did not attend his wife's funeral, did not inform the family of the $100,000 in life insurance he had on his spouse and the parents had to solicit the community for the funds to bury their only child. Interestingly, Goodwin's last and final communication to her via text was that he loved her and wanted to work things out but then for days nothing, just complete silence from him, accept one unmentioned phone and almost lost call to her that lasted 9 seconds on the day before she died. (You can say a lot in 9 seconds - try it)

Goodwin, in 2014 finally received that $100,000 payout in insurance on the life of his spouse because of the military's refusal to charge the soldier with fraud. They cited there was no fraud because they had a marriage license.

Sadly if having a license is proof there was no fraud then how do you ever charge anybody anywhere with BAH fraud?

To date, and to our knowledge not one of these persons received any real penalty or disciplinary action for the part they played in this tragedy. The Army blames the civilian police and the civilian police blame the Army...
